Larry Beinhart is a multi-award-winning writer, producer and director.
His novel American Hero was the basis for the Academy Award nominated screenplay Wag the Dog. Other screenplays include The Agency, in active development at Bavaria Films, Rock’n’Roll Heaven, in active development with producer Dean Silvers, No One Rides for Free, with Obermeyer Productions, and No Place to Hide, starring Sylvester Stallone.
Mr. Beinhart’s writing awards include a Fulbright - the Raymond Chandler Fellowship at Wadham College, Oxford, a Gold Dagger from the Crime Writers Association (UK), and an Edgar Award for his novel No One Rides for Free from the Crime Writers of America. His short stories have been included in the New Crimes Anthology. His short story “Death in a Small Town” received an Edgar nomination.
Beinhart has extensive film experience as a producer and director of commercials, documentaries, and industrial films for Sheinkopf Communications and for the Big Orange Production Company, which he founded. He received the Gold Medal at the Virgin Islands International Film Festival for a spot and 2 Emmy awards for his commercials.
Mr. Beinhart’s editorial writing has appeared in Esquire Magazine (UK Edition), Woodstock Times, and Schwarze Beute #8, a crime writing magazine published by Rowolt (Germany), for which he was the guest editor of the Larry Beinhart Edition. He has taught Creative Writing for the Woodstock Guild of Artists, How to Write Crime Fiction for Oxford University, and skiing in New York and France.
